Claudia Alonso Education: What I Wish for 2025…

Hello, everyone. Thank you for visiting my website and joining me today.

It is now January 2025, and like many of you, I am trying to decide what to aim for in this new year. I’ve heard all about vision boards, and I want to do something similar with this post.

I have a few goals and plans for Claudia Alonso Education, but I’m usually not good at following through and I want to change that. You see, most of the time, I do what I want to do — or what I feel inspired to do. If I need a resource for my class, then I create it. If I want to publish books, then that’s what I do. If I want to work on my website, I’ll do some of that. There isn’t a plan.

But I’m trying to be more goal-oriented and to give the teaching resources I create more direction.

These last few weeks, I’ve been thinking about how to proceed in 2025, and I have a few ideas I’d like to share with you.

Bilingual Teaching Resources on TpT

Shopify

What I love the most about Claudia Alonso Education is creating teaching resources. Sometimes, when I’m teaching in my class, I think to myself, “I should create this or that.” It happens often.

I take out my phone and I add my idea to a list I have on my Notes. My list is long.

The first thing I’m tackling in 2025 are my already-started product lines. Here is a list of those:

  1. Spanish Research Books and Comprehension and Fact/Opinion Activities: These are decodable books that give information about a plant or animal. The book has a lot of non-fiction text features because I’m always looking for books with text features and most of the time the easy readers only have photographs—maybe a few have labels, if I’m lucky. For them to have a table of contents, diagrams, maps, captions, etc, I have to create my own. I finished 2024 with 4 books. I plan to create at least 13 more in 2025.
  2. Spanish Missing Word Sentences: This resource includes 10 passages that have 3 sentences each. They tell a simple story that has a beginning, middle, and end. Each sentence is missing a word that students have to choose from a list. The resource has two types of sentences, one with the word missing and three words to cut and glue, and one with a choice of two words students need to circle to complete the sentence correctly. I have used these in my classroom and it teaches students to read and understand the meaning of each sentence before choosing a word. It also prepares them for the MAP test. I plan to create 5 more in 2025.
  3. Drawing and Writing Fiction Stories in Spanish: I use directed drawing instructions to draw the title character or object. Then I add a few characters, settings, and problems. I use this activity as a writing station during the spring in my Kindergarten classroom. I plan to at least add a Spring and Summer resource. Maybe I’ll add a few more.
  4. Subitizing Slideshows: I have a lot of subitizing clip art. I’ve only used sixteen sets. I still have 30 more sets that I could use to create more subitizing slideshows. After I finish them, I’d like to convert them into YouTube videos, too.
  5. Big Flashcards with Pictures: I have grown my flashcard collection quite a bit. I would still like to create a Spanish Words with a Diphthong set and a Prefix and Suffix set.
  6. Biography Books: These are books in two levels that give information about several historical figures. I created the first three to use in my classroom. I use the lowest level with my Kindergartners (a level E), and they loved reading them last year out of their book boxes. It was great because they also continued to review the lives of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King. At the time, I did purchase a lot of other historical figure clip art that I now own. In 2025, I hope to at least create five more of those biography books. The biography books I create can be found in English, Spanish, or Bilingual.
  7. Spanish Fairy Tale and Folktale Retell Activities: I’m all about student comprehension. I spend the first semester of Kindergarten teaching students how to read and write, and then I spend the second semester teaching them to understand what they read and to transform their thoughts and opinions into writing. One of the best ways to teach comprehension is by doing retelling activities. Students sequence story events in different ways, act out the story and identify story elements for each fairy tale or folktale. At the end of 2024, I created five of these activities. I plan to create many more in 2025.

Are there any other resources you would like to see out there in 2025? Email me at claudia@claudia-alonso.com with your requests.

My Own Store

I would like to branch out. One of my biggest projects in 2025 is to create an online store outside of Teachers Pay Teachers. I would like to offer teachers and parents more opportunities to save with bundles when they buy my resources, and as I understand, this can happen with my own store.

I have over a thousand resources, which means it will be a big project. I plan to upload at least one resource each day, using the batching process that Shopify provides, and then upload PDF files and thumbnails.

I will need to study my data first, to upload my most requested resources first. It will be an adventure that I plan to begin as January starts.

Workbooks on Amazon

As I continue to branch out, I also want to have a bigger presence on Amazon. I’ve started uploading books and workbooks in 2024. I want to finish publishing my Lee Conmigo Collection on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo. As of right now, most of the workbooks I am publishing need to stay in Amazon due to licensing. That may change in the future, but only time will tell.

Another thing that I know I will need, is to create a few add campaigns to promote my workbooks and books to get them out there. Wish me luck. It is unknown territory.

Newsletter

A few of you may be members of my newsletter. If you are, you know I am very bad at sending emails. If you aren’t, you can always sign up here. You get a few freebies when you do.

One of my resolutions for this year is to write at least one email a month. I will do my best to do that, but I know I am busy and work full time and I have a family to take care of, so please forgive me when I can’t or if I’m inconsistent. Once I have my own store, it will be easier to offer discounts and gift cards. I’m excited about the opportunities.

Blog

I’ve had ideas for blog posts, and I still want to translate into English the first batch of blog posts I started in Spanish back in 2021.

Writing blog posts is my last priority this year, but it’s on my mind.

There are many things I want to talk about on how to use the resources I create and about my own Spanish Reading and Writing curriculum.

My Website

Most of the things I mentioned above need to be here, on my website.

You can click on the title of this page, or go to www.claudia-alonso.com to reach my website and see what I offer.

This website should be a place where you can find everything you need to help students learn to read, write, and much more. Slowly, I will continue to update it. Eventually, you will find a link to my new store here too.

I hope everyone has a happy New Year and that everything you wish for comes true. Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve. you!
