Happy Mother’s Day!
First of all, I hope all the moms out there are having a great weekend with their families. As a mom, I know everything we do sometimes goes unnoticed. As a working mom, it’s even harder. But we make it work because we love our family.
My family always takes me to lunch the day before Mother’s Day. It gets too crowded on the day and I can’t handle it. Instead, we have a late lunch (or early dinner) at my favorite restaurant, a German restaurant in the area called Bavarian Grill. I love the schnitzels there and the creamy spinach. They also always have something in season, and this time, it was the white asparagus. It was really good.
But Mother’s Day is today, and my family is still asleep. We’ll go to the movies to see Fall Guy in a couple of hours, and then we’re going to have a cookout in our patio.
Not all will be fun and games this weekend.
First of all, our campus is being refreshed this year, which means I have to box everything by May 15th. So I’ve been busy packing, packing packing. I’m almost done, only four or five boxes to go, most of which I need to wait to pack because it’s things students are using (like books in their book boxes, the calendar, etc).
A lof of my personal things, I’ve been bringing home, because they say some things get lost or damaged.
Since I’ve been packing, I haven’t had much time to do anything else from the End of the Year Checklist! So I decided to bring work home—which I try not to do.
I’ve been working on report cards, class lists, and reports that we need for CUM folders and parents. In my spare time, I’ll try to continue working on resources.
On Thursday, I started creating a new resource. It’s a writing resource I’ve been wanting for my classroom since March. Right now, my bilingual kindergarteners have two writing stations. One is the Writing Sentences station (you can find the May sheets in my store HERE if you want to see them), and then there is a Narrative Writing station. That one is a primary notebook that they share where they write a narrative with a beginning, middle, and end.
But I wanted to add Fiction Story Writing to the pool. And I decided a while back to look for directed drawings to make something that would help them come up with different stories. I searched and bought a bunch of directed drawings from Party Head Graphics.
Yesterday, I finally published the first of eleven. It’s about Farm Animals.
Here is a list of the other ten pages I have planned:
- School
- Halloween
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
- Winter
- Valentine’s
- Spring
- Fairy Tales
- Ocean Animals
- Jungle Animals
As always, let me know if you enjoy my Day in the Life posts. Take care!
